MAX Introduces State-of-the-Art Technology for Sustainable Bank Protection
Recently ASCE-EWRI in partnership with BUET-IWFM organized the 11th International Perspective on Water Resources and the Environment (IPWE) Conference 2023 in Dhaka. This 3-days long conference was held in n unique hybrid format; face-to-face events were held simultaneously in Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka, Bangladesh and in ASCE Headquarters in Reston VA, USA, and will be streamed internationally. The theme of this year’s Conference was “Resiliency in the Time of Climate Change” and the conference brought together approx. 300 professionals in the water and environmental fields from over 21 nations.
MAX GROUP, one of the most versatile and reputed engineering conglomerates of Bangladesh was invited to the 1st keynote session of the IPWE 2023 conference to present FLXMAT Technology, a trusted and well-recognized technology for protecting shore/embankments. It is worth mentioning that MAX is the first local company that has successfully implemented the critical river protection work of the mighty Padma river (Project Reference: Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Project) using this technology. Mr. Md. Tazul Islam, Minister, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, was the Chief Guest of the keynote session. David Maclean MTheol, ARICS, CEO, 7SEAS Group, who is the innovator of FLXMAT was the Keynote Speaker. Engr. Ghulam M. Alomgir, Chairman, MAX GROUP and Director, FBCCI, moderated the keynote session.
The keynote speaker demonstrated a detailed presentation on FLXMAT technology, its usage, benefits, installation methods, etc. Engr. Ghulam M. Alomgir, moderator of the session said, “FLXMAT is a sustainable technology and can last up to a century. It is the best alternative to the traditional methods like concrete block and Geo bag to prevent damage from devastating flood and river erosion.”
Among others, Dr. Satya Prasad Majumder, Vice-chancellor of BUET, and Dr. Md. Abdul Matin, Professor, Department of Water Resources Engineering, BUET were also present during the session.
