During 70s, there was a tendency among meritorious students to go abroad especially the Middle East for doing jobs or higher studies. As a student from Bangladesh's highest and most prominent educational body, BUET, I used to cherish similar dreams. That's why just after completing my graduation in Mechanical Engineering, I went UAE to live my dreams. But my idea was a bit different than others. I wanted to earn a significant amount of Petrodollar within the shortest timeline, return back home and start my own business.

Reaching UAE, I started my career with Kirby Building Systems, a USA based Construction Company and served them for two years. Later on, I joined COMEX Middle East, a Dubai based French Oil and Gas Company and successfully served them for three years. In 1983, I returned home and in the same year, I registered 'AFA Steel Industries Limited' as my first company. In that point of view, AFA is my most sweet and special child!

The economy of Bangladesh began to undergo a lot of changes after the liberation war of 1971. With this economic growth, different sectors started to improve significantly especially the transportation sector. During that time, leaf spring was completely an import-dependent product and the idea of manufacturing springs locally was completely new. So I, with a view to reducing the creeping dependency on this import, embraced the challenge and pioneered the first leaf spring manufacturing factory in Bangladesh.

The determination of never compromising with quality gave me a robust boost and it started to increase the volume of order significantly within a very short span of time. But due to lack of resources such as in vestment, space, and advanced technology, I could not take many orders at that time. However, in this long 35 years, AFA has overcome all its shortcoming and today it is the leading and possibly the best manufacturers of leaf springs in Bangladesh. Very recently, AFA has deployed state of the art 'Robotic Technology' in its factory, list of its kind ever introduced in Bangladesh.
