MAX Infrastructure Limited Inks Deal with Roads and Highways Department (RHD), Bangladesh

Roads and Highways Department of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh signed two separate contracts Monday, 24 October 2022, at the city’s Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel for the Implementation of Civil Works of the SASEC Dhaka-Sylhet Corridor Road Investment Project- Work Package- 1. Under this work package, LOT No. DS-1, Improvement of Dhaka - Sylhet National Highway (N2) into 4-Lane Highway with Service Lanes on Both Sides from Katchpur Intersection to Sonpara Bus Stand (Km 00+000 to Km 18+000), will be implemented by the JV of Max Infrastructure Limited & Longjian Road and Bridge Co., Ltd. (LRBC), and LOT No. DS-2, Improvement of Dhaka - Sylhet National Highway (N2) into 4-Lane Highway with Service Lanes on Both Sides from Sonpara Bus Stand to Narsingdi BSCIC End (Km 18+000 to Km 35+000), will be implemented by the JV of Max Infrastructure Limited & Zhengzhou City Highway Engineering Corporation (ZZHE). Local engineering conglomerates Max Infrastructure Limited, a concern of MAX GROUP, will take part in the implementation of both LOTs under Package-1.
Before the contract signing ceremony, a Stakeholder Consultation Program was held in the Ballroom of Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka. Mr. A B M Amin Ullah Nuri, Secretary, Road Transport and Highways Division, graced the Stakeholder Consultation & Contract Signing Ceremony as the Chief Guest. Mr. A K M Manir Hossain Pathan, Chief Engineer, Roads and Highways Department presided over the ceremony. From the contractor’s end, Engr. Ghulam Mohammed Alomgir, Chairman, MAX Group, Mr. Mohammed Zulkernine, Director, MAX Infrastructure Limited, Mr. Bao Hongfu, Business Manager, LRBC, China, and Mr. Lu Tianjun, ZZHE, China were present at the ceremony. Among others, the Country Director, BRM, ADB, the Project Director of SASEC Dhaka-Sylhet Corridor Road Investment Project, etc. were also present. During the program, the chief guest requested all the stakeholders to work cooperatively to complete this promised project of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina MP, in time with the best possible quality.
When contacted for comments, MAX Group Chairman Engr. Ghulam M. Alomgir told the media that in the last 15 years, the success rate of local companies in delivering mega infrastructure projects on time is better than that of many foreign companies. He expressed his hope to complete this project timely maintaining the due quality provided the lands are handed over in time and all the stakeholders extend their sincere cooperation. He then sincerely requested the government decision-makers to focus more on the improvement of local companies and manpower for ensuring the sustainability of the ongoing development activities. Lastly, he again requested the government decision-makers for the inclusion of suitable domestic preference clauses in future tenders to safeguard the interest of local companies.
