CONTRIBUTION OF MAX IN ENERGY SECURITY
TO SUSTAINABLE GROWTH: BANGLADESH PERSPECTIVE
A 3-day long conference was held on March 11-13, 2023 in Bangladesh Business Summit organized by FBCCI. It was a face-to-face simultaneous event integrated into 3 plenary with 14 parallel sessions.
Engr. Ghulam Mohammed Alomgir, Director- FBCCI and Chairman of MAX Group - one of the most versatile and reputed engineering conglomerates of Bangladesh, was invited to the Energy Security: Strategic Approach for Energy Security to Attain Sustainable Growth session as ‘Panelist’.
Engr. Ghulam Mohammed Alomgir, Chairman of MAX Group, in his speech in the session, said the country's overall development should be made sustainable so that it never slips. MAX started its journey in power sector through quick rental power plant which provided a quick solution i.e. electricity to the nation. The growth of overall electricity generation had a boost under the leadership of Honorable PM Sheikh Hasina, MP and her dynamic team but it did not take place in a holistic way, he added, the transmission and distribution networks should also be developed. The growth of electricity consumers, that is, the industrialization should also be taken care of. He also demanded duty cuts for industries for the sake of increasing employment opportunities.
Mr. Nasrul Hamid, State Minister, Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, was the Chief Guest. Mr. Md. Habibur Rahman, Secretary of the same Ministry, was the Session Chair. Mr. Mahbubur Rahman, President, ICC was the Guest of Honor. Abul Kalam Azad, former Principal SDG Coordinator and Ex-Principal Secretary of Prime Minister’s Office was the Keynote Speaker. Dr. Ijaz Hossain, Professor and Dean of Engineering (BUET) moderated the session.
